AMIkids Southwest Florida
Founded in 1991, AMIkids Southwest Florida [originally known as American Marine Institute, we were a sponsor of their priograms in the 1990's] is a private, not-for-profit, vocational education facility in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. AMIkids Southwest Florida assists kids in working towards obtaining their high school diploma or GED. They we begin the transition planning early so that they have a clear plan for school or work.
Zabrina is interested in partnering with our club in some of these endeavors.

Jim and Harris read at the final Reading Rocks for this school year at North Fort Myuers AScademy for the Arts on Monday(May 23rd). Books were delivered to Tice Elementary on Friday.
John is this year's Florida Kiwanis Foundation Trustee for Division 19. He has to make a presentation to each club in our division and we want to support him by having some of our members attend whenerver he is the speaker. Each of these will then also count as an Interclub for our club. As he is scheduled at other clubs we will be asking one or two of our members to attend. He has alrerady spoken to the our club, Lehigh Acres and Metro-McGregor clubs. Interclub credits also are received for members attending Division Council meetings and we received credits for DCM's sponsored by Fort Myers and SanCarlos Park.

Harris asked members to send him suggestions for speakers for our weekly meetings. Currently we have:
We cover a Meals On Wheels route every Tuesday.
Jim covered it this past Tuesday and Harris will do next Tuersday.
Work on Edison Kiwanis Hall to get our Occupational License is postponed until John returns from New York. Once that is done we can get the water turned on and the large metal Edison Kiwanis sign for the front of the building installed.
Kathy announced that the North Fort Myers High Key Club will be joing us to help fill Back-To-School Back Packs on July 7th. For this annual event we will be filling 300 backpacks wth school supplies that will be distributed to homeless children through L:ove and Light Ministries.
Also, she will be attending the Gateway Key Club meeting this week.
In addition, Kathy distributed swimming safety booklets to children at Tortuga Elementary for the Every Child A Swimmer program this past week.

John and Kathy will be attending the Kiwanis International Convention (ICon) Harris announced that online attendance to the Kiwanis International Convention as our club's official delegates. Onlime attendance is available and the club will reimburse membersfor the $49 registration fee (Harris has already signed up)

The Florida Kiwanis District Convention (DCon) will be held August 4th - 7th at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. Harris would like to see a good turnout of our members for this. We will discuss posible club financial support for attendance wat the May 19th meeting.
