Our next (and final for this school yaer) Reading Rocks will be May 23rd ay 9:00 AM. Jim and Harris are scheduled to read.


John is this year's Florida Kiwanis Foundation Trustee for Division 19.He has to make a presentation to each club in our division and we want to support him by having some of our members attend whenerver he is the speaker (he will speak to our club this coming week, May 5th). Each of these will then also count as an Interclub for our club. As he is scheduled at other clubs we will be asking one or two of our members to attend. He spoke at to the Lehigh Acres club this past Wednesday (April 27th) with Harris Dilmus and Kathy in attendance. This coming Tuesday (May 3rd) he will speak to the Metro-McGregor club. Tom Mere, Dilmus, Linsey and Kathy will attend.

The Science Fair Judging event at North Fort Myers Academy will be April 28th between 1:30 and 4:00 PM. This is right before their Elementary Science Fair Family Viewing Night (5-7 PM). Kathy, John, Linsey and Harris have signed up to judge.


Harris asked members to send him suggestions for speakers for our weekly meetings. Speaker Jessica Goodall suggested we contact the the Florida Lion's Club Eye Clinic in Bonita Springs

We cover a Meals On Wheels route every Tuesday.
DJim has agreed to do May 3rd, 10th and 17th while Harris is away in Italy.


The panic bar has ben installed on the front door at Kiwanis Hall thanks to John's son, Alex. John has the batteries for the ememrgency exit lights and will install them. Once that is done he can schedule an inspection for the certificate of occupation. After that is complete we can get the water turned on.
Harris announced that the plants in the planter appear to be dead. Once we have water he will see about replacing them.
John announced that he had received a request to discuss the possibility of renting out Kiwanis Hall for events. The club decided this was not a good idea. John will be going forward with getting an appraisal on the building for a possible sale.
The large metal Edison Kiwanis sign for the front of the building still needs to be installed.


The Teacher Appreciation event at North Fort Myers Academy will be May 5th. Thank-you cards have been printed and Katcy and Linsey will be distributing them, along with apples, beginning at 6:45 that morning.


The third quarterly Division Council Meeting (DCM) will be Saturday, May 14th at theEverglades Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs from 10 AM - 2:00 PM. Admission is $10. Bring your own lunch and folding chair.

Kathy announced that the North Fort Myers High Key Club sent six members to their District Convention. They also recently helped with distributing meals to the needy.
Also, she found out that the Gateway Key Club is "somewhat active". She will be contacting them.


John and Kathy will be attending the Kiwanis International Convention (ICon) Harris announced that online attendance to the Kiwanis International Convention as our club's official delegates. Onlime attendance is available and the club will reimburse membersfor the $49 registration fee (Harris has already signed up)

The Florida Kiwanis District Convention (DCon) will be held August 4th - 7th at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. Harris would like to see a good turnout of our members for this. We will discuss posible club financial support for attendance wat the May 19th meeting.
